LV PLC architecture

For a high temperature test station TIRRON developed a new control concept to meet the high safety standards a high temperature machine requires. The control system consists of a Beckhoff CX 5010 PLC, Windows PC with a LabVIEW application and a Beijer touch panel. In the unlikely event of a Win PC failure all system states and set points can be controlled via touch panel, which additionally takes over data logging functionallity.

What makes the PLC program unique is the object oriented rather than a traditional functional approach. With general control methods, like PID Control, Level Control, Alarm Monitoring..., the PLC code is reusable for many other test stations. For this project TIRRON developed a TCP/IP communication driver, which allows the LabVIEW application on the WIN PC to access the PLC memory without third party software or additional software licenses.
